🫐 Fresh vs. Frozen Berries
This recipe works with either fresh or frozen berries. I usually use frozen because they're always in my freezer and give the smoothie a thicker texture. And I can make it year-round. But when I have fresh berries especially when they are in season, I just add a little ice before blending.

🍓 Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
- Mixed Berries - frozen or fresh.
- Banana - Ripe banana adds natural sweetness and a creamy texture. If you don't have one, use Greek yogurt, mango, or avocado.
- Liquid - Water keeps the smoothie light and lets the berry flavor stand out. You can also use coconut water or your favorite dairy or plant-based milk.
- Add ice cubes if using fresh berries to make it thicker.
- If you'd like a sweeter smoothie, add sugar, honey, maple syrup, or your preferred sweetener to taste.

Easy Add-ins
If you'd like to make this mixed berry smoothie more filling or higher in protein, you can add:
- ½ cup Greek yogurt
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 2 tablespoons rolled oats
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds or ground flaxseed
