    How to Make

Wash and trim the green beans (snap the ends and pull the strings) then pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.

    washed and trimmed green beans

Place them in a large bowl or wide plate . Drizzle with olive oil, toss using a tong and coat. Then season with the garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and chili flakes. Toss again until the green beans are evenly coated with the seasonings.

    green beans

Transfer to the air fryer basket. Air fry at 390°F (200°C) for 8 to 10 minutes.
Don't worry if the basket is a little crowded. Shake it 2 to 3 times during cooking to help the green beans cook evenly. Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes if you prefer more blistered edges. Serve immediately.

    Tips

    • Dry the green beans well before seasoning so they blister instead of steam.
    • It's ok to overcrowd the basket, just make sure to shake the basket 2-3 times in between cooking.
    • Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the beans and your air fryer model.
    • Do not overcook, the beans will get bitter.

    Variations

    • Sprinkle with grated Parmesan before serving.
    • Add smoked paprika for a smoky flavor.
    • Replace the chili flakes with Italian seasoning.
    • Finish with fresh lemon juice for a brighter flavor.
    • Top with toasted sliced almonds for extra crunch.

    Storage & Reheating

Store leftover green beans in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. For the best texture, reheat the green beans in the air fryer at 390°F for 2 to 3 minutes until heated through. You can also warm them in a skillet over medium heat or in the microwave for 30 seconds.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use frozen green beans?

Yes. Frozen green beans work well, although they won't become quite as blistered as fresh green beans. You may need to add a few extra minutes to the cooking time.

Do I need to boil the green beans first?

No. The air fryer cooks the green beans until tender, so there's no need to blanch or boil them first.

How do I know when they're done?

The green beans should be tender when pierced with a fork and have blistered, lightly browned spots around the outside.

Can I make these without oil?

Yes, but they won't brown as well and the seasonings may not stick as evenly.
